We will be meeting over Zoom to discuss a chapter from Muriam Davis's current manuscript on the question of Islam and racial capitalism in French Algeria.

Muriam Haleh Davis is an assistant professor of history at the University of California, Santa Cruz. Her research interests focus on development, decolonization, and race in Algeria. In addition to publishing articles in the Journal of Contemporary History, the Journal of French and Francophone Philosophy, and the Journal of European Integration History, she recently co-edited a volume entitled North Africa and the Making of Europe: Governance, Institutions and Culture (Bloomsbury, 2018).
