Film Screening: Force Majeure (2014)

A critical and word-of-mouth sensation at the 2014 Cannes Film Festival, where it won the Jury Prize in Un Certain Regard, this wickedly funny and precisely observed psychodrama tells the story of a model Swedish family. Handsome businessman Tomas (Johannes Bah Kuhnke), his willowy wife Ebba (Lisa Loven Kongsli), and their two blond, pre-teen children embark on an enviable skiing holiday in the French Alps. But, during lunch at a mountainside restaurant an avalanche turns everything upside down. With panicked diners fleeing in all directions, Tomas’ decisions shake the family's world to its core, leaving his marriage and the family’s future hanging in the balance.
