Stanford Afro-Latin Jazz Ensemble: Spring Concert

The Afro-Latin Jazz Ensemble’s final performance of the academic year consists of a unique blend of traditional and contemporary songs spanning the entire scope of the Afro-Latin genre, mixed together in new and exciting ways. The repertoire put a Latin spin on pieces from American musicals, lullabies, and African orisha chants, as well as the usual solid mix of rumba, classic salsa, and Latin jazz with songs composed or performed by greats such as Celia Cruz, El Gran Combo, Tito Puente, Ruben Blades, Johnny Pacheco, and John Calloway, as well as new arrangements and compositions.
